2007

Bradford's senior academy stand-off Hawkyard, 21, was drafted in for Paul Deacon and made his debut against Huddersfield in round 14 of 2007 season.[1] Steve McNamara commenting on his debut against Huddersield, McNamara said: "I can't fault Richie Hawkyard whatsoever. We gave the kid a call on Wednesday night, he managed to get a day off Thursday so he could train but he had to work today. "Richie's a really tough kid. He carried a couple of kick-offs back to their big fellas, was really brave and he's done tremendously well under the circumstances." Richard only made 3 appearances for Bradford in 2007 and is only picked when there are injuries. On 27 September 2007 it was announced Richard had signed for Swinton. Paul Kidd commenting on the signing said "Richard has made a couple of first team appearances for Bradford, which says a lot about his quality as a player. If he wasn’t a really good player he wouldn’t have got near to Bradford’s first team. He has certainly had the right grounding there but he needs more first team experience and that’s where we come in. From what I have seen of Richard it is clear that he has great potential. He is a good goal kicker and he takes the line on really well, which is something that we have been lacking."
